Introducing Vermeil

NEW JEWELLERY COLLECTION

INTRODUCING VERMEIL

When asked what defines preciousness now, Sophie Begg, Oroton’s Jewellery Designer, points to keepsakes. Begg has been working with Creative Director Sophie Holt on a chic new collection of jewels made in Sterling Silver and 18k Gold Vermeil; the range makes its debut this month. “We were thinking about everything you should have in your jewellery box; it was important to create a series of special collections that spoke to the DNA of the brand, beautiful items that last. At the same time, we were thinking about forever pieces, really considered designs that are timeless.”

The new collections are thoughtfully done, made to layer together from one season to the next, and the house’s signature motifs are used throughout, including everything from vintage hardware to bamboo, flowers and spheres.

From a design point of view, the Vermeil and Sterling Silver collections had to feel elegant and wearable. “It’s for someone who wants to look pulled together but without fuss,” Begg explains. Styling was a major influence: “We are always thinking about total look, how clothing, accessories and jewels come together to inform your style – that influenced the spirit of the Vermeil collections. For example, a lot of our designs have clean necklines, you might wear your hair pulled back off the face, and that’s a great moment to consider a wow earring, whereas if you’re wearing a structured collar or blazer, we would recommend the perfect sculptural Kora hoop.” Those kind of winning foundation pieces are all here.

Take the Fife line, which consists of classic chains and geometric earrings made from a polished bamboo link: Previously, we worked a bamboo motif into statement pieces that we know our customers loved, so this became a starting point, it was about reinterpreting one of the house’s symbols, moving it on by making it feel even more timeless and special.” As a result, nothing is too complicated, all the shapes are compelling and unique, the kind of special pieces you can wear with jeans or dressed up for dinner, the ultimate finishing touch.
